b) their criticism seems to be at specific songs instead of the whole thing.
This isn't supposed to be a one-track album, so the individual parts are all important on their own. And quite a few of them are either meh or just not amazing.

This is far behind Diadem, and a little worse than two Hunters but still pretty good. So much emocean.
