Everyone will tell you something different. KILL would say Destroy Erase Improve, while MetallicOpeth would say Nothing [Re-release]. Wizard and I agree on I [EP], while the scene kids will tell you obZen is their best. Then there's the Chaosphere fags.
I guess it depends on how you like your metal. Their older stuff is more thrash, whilst everything post-Nothing has a lot more groove. The experimentalist works I [EP] and Catch Thirty-three are my favourites.
At the end of it all, all their albums/EPs are pretty swell, so just go with the flow. m/

'Tis a fact that Catch 33 is their best.

personally:
Destroy Erase Improve (cuz it thrashes hard, more variety, musically tight and expressive)
Catch 33 (the idea of "I" expanded in three sections and rules throughout)
Chaosphere (ideal workout album, real technical but simple, the most heaviest and chaotic album)
obzen (their most technical, but slightly monotonous)
Nothing (real groovy and solid, their most "simple" and accessible album)
I (one long song that rampages hard)
that simple

C33 is definitely their heaviest, I mean its about as heavy as the center of a blackhole.

Don't get me wrong DEI is intense as fuck but C33 takes the cake. I love its experimental sound; how they try to incorporate jazz fusion. Not to mention the mind bending grooves and lyrics. That album really changed my perception of what a metal album can be and in a sense elevated my standards for metal albums.
