Old story - this has been going on for awhile now
I doubt it - I think it's funny that Nat's Loop is the only semi-realized beat on his page, the rest are just snippets/sketches that are, really, rather terrible. I don't think he wrote it 4 years ago (conveniently the upload date of the original performance of 'On Nem', even though he claims the vocal samples are from a mate called Natalia doing a cover of that track, which means it had to come some time after). I also don't buy the whole "I didn't hear this track for 3 months after the album was released" bit either: he apparently was a friend of Zomby's, so you'd think you'd be checking out a new album by him relatively quickly. 'Natalia's Song' has been around for nearly two years now, Kode9 was one of the first to drop it
Of course 4AD are going to show recognition, until it's resolved anyway

His twitter feed is fucking hilarious. Anyways, I agree in a lot of ways with what you're saying Dev, but everything Zomby has said on twitter has just been along the lines of "yeah, deal with it". Nothing to say that Reark lied about it.
Would be a shame if he did steal it though, especially considered how talented he is otherwise.

Also I don't really get why people seem to think that 'Nat's Song' sounds nothing like a normal Zomby tune, pretty much all of this album follows a similar template

And he keeps talking about a sample, which could mean just the original vocals that he sampled himself, but it sounds more to me like he thinks that making what little changes he did to the Reark track was enough to make it his own.
Not that he's trying especially hard to make himself clear.

My money's on some kid sending Zomby an outline of an idea, Zomby took it and made it what it was
I doubt highly that after just releasing his debut album that he was looking to pair up with some unknown kid on Soundcloud

reark's other stuff really sucks so yea that's plausible. wayy too many soundcloud suckups buying into it all and pretending like his other stuff isn't awful. but then again when david guetta can amass over 28,000,000 facebook fans what should i expect.
