Coming from a more metal background I liked this album a whole lot. Fully enjoying every song on this album at the moment, no complaints at all.

As I Am is really lame if you ask me...and I thought with Honor Thy Father they tried way too hard to be angry/heavy and it just comes off is hilariously cheesy. No complaints other than those two songs though.

Besides Metropolis, I'm really starting to find Dream Theater annoying as fuck. Plus, they release the same damn live dvd at least once a year, raping their fans bank accounts. Their last two albums were also quite laughable.

I don't like As I Am either. The rest of the album is great

After many, many listens, I still find all of this album damn awesome, and even better than before, in fact. Grown on me enough for me to consider it my favorite DT album, even though Scenes is still their best. Weird, I know.
Also, Honor Thy Father and Endless Sacrifice gotta be my most listened DT songs.

This is my favourite Dt album. Worst song is definitley As I Am.

Album is all around pwnage. As I Am is pretty good. Honor Thy Father and In The Name of God are also epic.

Could not agree more. This was Dream Theater's attempt to make a straight up rock record. Epic Fail
This is, by far, their worst album to date

Hmmm... I disagree with the reviewers assertion that "As I Am" was really good and "This Dying Soul" was the worst. Definitely vice versa (not that "As I Am" was entirely bad, but it was far too simple for Dream Theater).

As I Am is lol. Honor Thy Father is too actually.
Despite that I still really love this album.

...and with the exception of "As I Am", this is the most perfect album I have ever had the privilege of listening to! This is easily their most technical album, especially for my god-hero Mike Portnoy, but also for JP and JR's solos. The songs are exceptionally long, yet busy, concise, varied, and complex as hell. This is the epitome of progressive metal! If you can't appreciate it because it bares the band's metal teeth, then you need to go grow some balls.

^ There most technical album would be Metropolis

And how can you say every song is varied, concise and complex as hell when you mention earlier that As I Am is too simple for them?

Except most of the solos on this album are really just Petrucci shredding scales...this is one of their simpler albums over all to be honest. Mike Portnoy gives some excellent solos/fills as well but I don't really consider him a technical genius of a drummer. I always felt like it was more Portnoy's musicality that made him a genius drummer. His technical abilities are impressive but there are better technically than him.
