Yah, most of it is. =P
I tell ye; it's my favorite genre of music but it's still a very quiet genre of music that uses
immediacy and silence as movement along with the imagery of the lyricism. It's not always the case for
singles but most albums will be filled with soft ballads and songs of words as opposed to songs of
sound. See The Weavers or Peter Paul & Mary or more contemporary; Sam Amidon and Iron & Wine.

green apples hang from my green apple tree muthafkazz

This is one of those albums I just can't imagine anyone rating below 3.5.

yeah but like
the freewheeling bob dylan, which includes only guitar and vocals for the most part and is a much "quieter" and less "active" album than this, is not boring

this is so far from boring. there is so much going on here. i can't stop listening to this.
|
| |
would i enjoy this robertsona/gyromania/people who commented in front of me?
|
| |
This is not boring. Robin's lyrics and expressions of his dreams were very interesting. On top of
that; the music was interesting with layers of mandolins to tickle the ears and pounding drums that
quake them now and then. This record deserves a lot of attention. It deserves time and thought.

might as well listen. one of the better reviewed of the year
|
| |
yeah this is pretty bland
and there's nothing interesting about the lyrics
|
| |
well yeah i'm gonna give it a listen no matter what but i honestly know nothing about this band besides the folk tag. no idea if it'll be up my alley or not (@robertsona)
|
| |
It's a great album. Some pretty unique sounds (to the genre anyway) and some powerful yearnings from a man chasing his dreams.
|
| |
lol
|
| |
I wouldn't laugh; I know what I'm talking about buddy, I actually listened to it. =P
You don't have to be so nasty because you didn't like it bud. =)

what's the emoticon for oversensitivity
|
| |
... ='( perhaps?

"Particularly dire is the album’s second half, following the title track, a mid-tempo slog of songs running into one another with no memorable bits to speak of, save “Lorelai,” notable for the wrong reasons (i.e., it’s a virtual re-write of Dylan’s “Fourth Time Around”)."
Hey, I thought this too! cmg we are friends again
|
| |
i thought that too about lorelai! ugh unashamed ripoff, even the vocal melody follows it
|
| |
Big improvement over their debut.

Since the 1960s folk revival, however, authenticity plays almost no role in the discussion of "folk" music, as everything born in America falls under the ever-broadening genre tag. Tejano, Cajun, and Native American music now enjoy the same level of treatment as Appalachian folk, blues, and southern country did just a few decades ago.
Perfect paragraph, this is 100% true.
