Indulge me--what does make them a masterful band?
They nearly perfected the quiet/loud/quiet formula on Cold Dead Place and All Of A Sudden.
I agree that they are pretty much a "stereotypical" post-rock band. They mainly just distinguish themselves from other bands with that label by being extremely good at what they do.

I can now say at this point that Let Me Back In is one of my favorite EITS songs ever. Most likely in the top 5.

I've been a bit harsch with this. It's not that bad, still inferior to their past work though.
Last Known Surroundings, Human Qualities & Postcard from 1952 are good.

The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place was honestly the only album of this band that I truly enjoyed from beginning to end.
This band I find shares a problem with Sigur Rós, at least for my part, in that their albums are not engaging enough as a whole.
One or two really amazing songs make one or two really amazing songs, not an amazing album.
Really well written review. I'll skip this. Any recommendations for recently released post-rock worth listening to?
