You really need the WAV version to even hear most of what is going on, they should have just not released a MP3 version

Decent pair of headphones and you'll be fine

Codex is absolutely amazing. I can't decide if I like Codex or Lotus Flower more.

GUtG tends to be the track I skip. May appreciate it eventually. I put on Pablo Honey not too long ago

and actually enjoyed it.

"It's the least layered song. Should have blown your mind a lot earlier than 12."

Yea, it was probably the easiest song to get into at first, but driving down the highway listening to it with the sun shining, really taking in those brilliant horns that almost drown out Thom's voice at times finally made the track really click.

"This is just my opinion.

Given the fact that it's a grower we can only know the "true" quality of the album after some time.I mean this is only 2 days old"

@scissorlocked - YES. patience people. I don't know how you all are already putting your final opinions on this album already. seems a bit ridiculous to me. none of my all time favorite albums were my all time favorite albums after 2 days of hearing it.

This album seriously rules, and I went into it with such low expectations. I was about to type "I don't quite understand a lot of the backlash that it's getting" but then I realized that I do. It's anti-hype.

I think a large amount of the negative reaction to it can be attributed to anti-hype. The same will be true here of the new Thrice album.

I'm not saying that everyone who dislikes this album is wrong or just trying to be a pain. It just seems that this having a 3.9 avg (the same at Hail To The Theif) is a misrepresentation of the album. I'd say it's as least as good as In Rainbows (4.1 avg) but then maybe I'm just connecting with it more for some strange reason.

I'll give it to these guys they got some talent. But their albums are soooo damn boring. I think half you people listen to this because the under ground community says its good.
