everyone else says its good and it sold a lot so there's ur proof - it's a classic

uhhhhh

yes. everyone thinks its good. and it sold a lot.

am I missing something here? are they not good barometers for classic status? i mean sure the selling a lot isn't NEEDED for that status but shit, the only other thing i can think of is cultural/musical impact which this ALSO has in spades so, really, what are you saying?

i can answer that actually: nothing

lol are you seriously that dense as to say that if a bunch of critics say it's good and it sells a lot that whatever it is, is a classic?

In that case, I need to go get all the Call of Duty games RIGHT NOW.

i mean all the critics say they're good and they sell a lot! must be classic games

The question was "classic to who", implying nobody considered it a classic. A list of people who do is

in no way a fallacy.

Pretty sure Jay-Z said that "Recovery" is a classic, so it must be!

Now this and what Betray above is saying is are fallacies (strawman arguments). qwe's not

saying that because Wayne's peers consider this a classic, therefore it is, but rather a simple

statement on who considers it a classic.

"lambsbread worships KRS-One and other conscious hip hop artists so take his opinion with the tiniest grain of salt"

What's wrong with KRS?

I enjoy this album, but going around saying well everyone thinks it's a classic so it must be is still

a fucking weak argument.

No, look at all the points together.

OTHER RAPPERS think he is very good

CRITICS think he is very good

SALES SHOW THAT THE GENERAL POPULACE thinks he is very good

(or at least was, i agree that he has pretty much sucked ass since rebirth)

you can have your personal taste, fine, whatever. go listen to all the deathcore you want. but you seem to be offended that this album has gotten legitimate praise from all corners, and that's pretty pathetic man.

Appeal to Popularity - suggests that an idea must be true simply because it is widely held.

that isn't my only argument dude, it pertains to a specific comment where someone asked me who thought it was classic.

"metacritic which is an AGGREGATOR of music reviews charts C3 as having "universal acclaim" which means that above 80 percent of people PAID TO REVIEW MUSIC think that it was good.

Eminem has gone on record saying that lil wayne is mega talented and that he admires C3.

Mac Lethal, whose fanbase consists mostly of Atmosphere-worshipping troglodytes, keeps trying to get his fans into wayne because he thinks he's a genius. I watched a livestream of him writing etc and interacting with fans and he was playing Dr. Carter going "how can you guys not like this shit." He calls Wayne a "rapper's rapper." The scourge of white backpackers everywhere called LIL WAYNE a rapper's rapper.

the two things you referenced were 1) RYM, which is a cesspool of circlejerk but not as bad as here, and 2) Sputnik, which is a cesspool of a circlejerk that gives users like andcas (rip) who come off as functionally retarded, the ability to write reviews of music and actually put them in the public eye. also immortal tech isn't shat on here which i find reprehensible.

on top of that, this album sold over 1 million in its first week which means, if you're going for popular opinion, that SHITLOADS of people dug what he was doing.

So you have the layman's opinion which is that this shit is fire

and you have critical consensus which is that this shit is fire

and you have the consensus of many skilful and popular rappers, which is, again, that this shit is fire.

now's the time when you're going to wanna open up that cream and apply it to the necessary places."

are these all of your arguments for this album
