I love this album still to this day.

I don't see anything wrong with it. It's not phenomenal and there are some clunkers but it seems like it's hated because that's the thing to do once you've "grown up" and discovered "real metal".

This album is a modern day classic, the weird eerie vibe this album has, and the intensity of some parts is a perfect mix, this album is a 4/5-5/5 to me.

Slipknot is either a love it or hate it kinda thing. I love it.

These dudes can play, any one that says that slipknot has no skill is ignorant as all hell, you may not care for the songs they write but these guys definately bring something relevent to the table, and they've always done their own thing.

I agree Shadows, Dani Filth is probably the best lyricist in metal. You can love or hate Cradle of Filth, but one thing NOBODY can do is deny him his lyrical ability. He paints intense pictures. Her Ghost in the Fog is just stunning. Corey Taylor has lyrics that appealed to me when I was 17 or so, comparing him to Maynard is a joke, any writer of any type would laugh at that. It is a matter of preference, but the whole "fuck you all, fuck the world, I hate everyone etc, you're a disease" is way to played out, Maynard James Keenan is much more clever than that. This is a pretty good album, but too nu-metal-ish for my taste. I never listen to the album from start to finish anymore, but there are some gems on here. (sic), Wait And Bleed, Eyeless, Purity, Surfacing, all some of the band's best.



On the topic of Dani Filth, he is an awful vocalist. Cradle Of Filth really only has one good song. Dani's lyrics are decent. They're not the best in metal, but they're decent. He's a better writer than he is a vocalist.
