I really, really enjoy this album. Not let down by it at all, surprised so many people are. The riffs are catchy as fuk.

Why does like every thread on this site end up as a ranking of the band's discography?
|
| |
It's usually just Agalloch threads, but that is a good question.

Happens a lot in Opeth and Death threads too

I really like this.
Though they should have probably expanded on Ashes, there was so much potential there.

I'm still excited for it, though it seems as if everyone agrees this was a letdown (in one way or another).

It wasn't a letdown in my opinion. It's just taking it's sweet time revealing itself in full.

I would've been let down if they had expanded on Ashes. They did it perfect the first time.

I was kind of hoping it would be a mixture of the thick heavy sound of Ashes and the acoustics of the Mantle, oh well, it's still awesome.

They pretty much forgot acoustics here aside from The Watcher's Monolith and the classical guitar on Black Lake. Shame, really.

They definately needed them in the intro. Would've made that a lot better.

Black Lake is one of their best songs.
Pale Folklore > this though, there's a lot more emotion there.
