3. I don't give a fuck about trends either, I just laugh at douche chunks who call everyone around them fakes for riding the trend wave, and then do the same themselves.

^ Then why do you think Motley Crue's S/T is better than Too Fast For Love? Too Fast practically started a trend. The S/T is as clear as a band changing their sound to follow a trend as I have ever seen.

That said, S/T rules.

Because the following of a trend itself I could give a shit about. But I can't recall Vince Neil ever bitching at anyone for being conformists.

That's not even the reason I like or dislike those albums.

Cowboys was made at the height of thrash's popularity, thrash had faded a little bit when this was made but not that far yet. So yeah, Pantera rode the thrash wave after glam faded (and never mind that they were a horrible glam band).

so wait, first, you're saying this is a thrash album?

and even going off the premise that this is a thrash album, I don't think being thrash in 1992 is following trends. I'm pretty sure the biggest trends for heavy music in 1992 were grunge, death metal and arena metal (ala the Black Album)...

^ you've spent 4 pages bashing Pantera for following trends on Trendkill, so I think you do care.

Hans: No, I've spent 4 pages bashing Phil for being a hypocrite. Trendkill's way better than this, why the fuck would I bash the decision itself?

Inveigh: Thrash was not dead. It went down in popularity but it wasn't completely gone yet. Cowboys was released at the height of thrash's popularity, and this album just continues that style (just does a bad job). And thrash and groove are pretty much the same thing.

I think what this really comes down to is that you rated St. Anger higher than Vulgar Display of Power and subsequently lost all credibility. I mean, we can all agree on that, right?

ok, so releasing a "thrash" album while the genre was losing popularity was following a trend? and if this is a thrash album, then so is Far Beyond Driven, which you cannot argue was released when thrash was dead... so were they following a trend there?

and Trendkill is not so atmospheric or progressive that it can't be considered the same genre as this, so how is it not a "trendkiller"? That was released during post-grunge, nu-metal and melodeath mania... you're contradicting yourself broseph.
