There are some good songs, but a lot is shit.

And how is this based? I would understand this album if he WEREN'T being a stereotypical black rapper. All he talks about is "suck my dick" and "bitches" in too many songs. Sure its funny but this has been done before. A lot of these songs are any thing but based.

Apparently you don't know what #Based means. And having your dick sucked and bitches aren't bad subject matters, he handles them in an abstract and #Based manner.

smh

But no really the two perfect releases to start Lil B with are I'm Gay and 6 Kiss. I'm Thraxx is great but a lot of it really doesn't thoroughly explore what #Based music actually is.

I like his serious songs but his bitches songs are far from abstract. Stating the same exact thing over and over again is not abstract. It's just shit. I don't have a problem though, because I'm Gay is the real shit and shows that the guy is real. I don't listen to rap so my opinion is limited but I just like him.

They are abstract. The appeal of his songs aren't, "Oh look he's so socially conscious this must be good." The bitches songs are great because of (well there's the moderate humor elements, which are always good, but Zappa had that too), but they're abstract because of the way they go outside of hip-hop conventions and hold a mirror up to the entire genre of hip-hop. Most of the serious Lil B fans I know are really in-depth into hip-hop than most people who'd call themselves "hip-hop heads" and they can appreciate it because of what he does with the genre.

DAMN SON, WHERE'D YOU FIND THIS?

Trap-a-holics are the only DJs whose mixtapes I'll listen to JUST because they're hosting it.

I get your argument but it could just be he happened to get his style out at just the right time. He's only in his early 20s and barely started his music career. I think he is going outside of what most people do but if he is breaking barriers its just all in our heads. He isn't engineering abstract songs; his style, flow and choice of lyrics just make us think he is.

And I found it because I was checking out Lil Bs website and downloaded the albums he linked to that were hosted for free. A few months ago I was wondering how the hell was Lil B serious about shit like ellen degeneres. I searched him on sputnik and wanted to at least give him a chance and hear what other stuff he had. I listened to I'm Gay first and that got me interested.

I mean, he's obviously not going to say "OH MY GOD LOOK AT HOW ABSTRACT AND OUTSIDE OF THE BOX I AM", because that'd be an asshole thing to do and it'd ruin the fun. And I mean it's pretty easy to tell because he talks about choosing to go in different lanes of rap on purpose, and he's proven on multiple occasions that he can rap well by normal hip-hop standards whenever he feels like it, he just chooses otherwise, so it's more than just inside of people's heads.

And his songs like Ellen Degenerous are hilarious. They're not as abstract as his other stuff but his cooking songs are more meant for being really fun and amazing quotables. I want you to listen to Pretty Bitch and tell me you didn't have fun with it. Songs like that are more just holding a mirror up to hip-hop and showing everyone how fucking way too SERIOUSLY they take the genre.

"Oh this isn't deep at all, he's not technically talented, he's just rapping about...BITCHES. This is BULLSHIT" Is the normal reaction of the "Oh I'm so serious" hip-hop community when they should just recognize it for being just enjoyable and fun/funny.

but if you like I'm Gay, you should check out BasedGod Velli and 6 Kiss.

He does, however, brag about himself quite often. That's pretty close to bragging out loud about how deep his music is.

I listened to 6 kiss and Pretty Bitch was the funniest song but a little annoying.

I get what you are saying, and whether or not he is serious about the stupid songs doesn't change the enjoyment level. If a song is annoying to me, its annoying, whether or not hes messing around. So far I like him more when he focuses on the lyrics.

I feel you. I used to be really annoyed by those songs and think, "Okay big whoop they're a joke, skipping to the next track now because this still sounds ike shit" but I kind of think they're an acquired taste because I just enjoy myself so much with them. And the bragging is just him doing what rappers are supposed to do.
