I like this too much for a 4. But I'd feel guilty having this as a 4.5 and having Cities also at a 4.5. Maybe I'll bump both of them up. Decisions, decisions.

heh r0bbb I ended up moving Cities up to a 5 and this to a 4.5. I don't know, Cities still doesn't feel like a 5 but whatever.

Also, Lakes you are 100% correct.

Again Lakes, you are so spot on. It's the poster child of that album just barely missing that extra something to make it a classic. I 5'ed it despite myself. I just wish instead of "Adelaide" they had something like "Impossible." That'd make the 5 really easy.

I'd probably 5 it if "There is No...", "Hello Alone", and "Alexithymia" weren't so average.

The only thing bad about Cities is Hello Alone, come on now. And even then it's more average than annoying.

Yeah Reclusion and Alexithymia are both good too. Cities is actually pretty varied when you think about it, with the more synth-based songs like Reclusion and TiNMtLaL, the acoustic ones, the half-acoustic ones, the normal rockers, (*fin), etc.

That's probably what this album is missing for the final push to to a 5, instead of the crappy Take Me / You Belong Here (okay they're not that bad but they drag the album down a lot)

Agree to disagree since I like everything on the album except those two. But yeah they're definitely missing some of the Godspeed/The Feel Good Drag tracks on this.

Heh, they get the extra +0.5 for being Anberlin/having Stephen Christian as their vocalist!

I would love a Paperthin Hymn, but I hate the lyric "Complaints of Violins" when "Violence" would fit

so much better. But yeah that song and TFD are the best of NTFP imo

this is absolutely their worst album, i honestly don't know what people hear in this. lyrics are awful by anberlin's standards, the songs are so formulaic...everything just sounds tired. i hate to say it, but i think the switch to a major label killed them.

Yeah, this is definitely Anberlin's most mature and probably most diverse album up to date
