woulda loved if the new song had this vocal style, but transit blues doesnt either and thats great so im trying to open my mind to this as best as i can. writing is a clear step up from the act

Song felt like it was in slowmo too... honestly not into the new single at all. Doesn’t rip the way this did. Mike is officially shot. Just can’t do the screams anymore.

Wow it sucks how surprising

They should just kick yet another keyboardist out and he can do that instead. And play tertiary guitar. And just scream things without a mic

YUGE bummer.

I don't get this Mike hate. He has sounded like this since 8:18. It's his vocal style now.
That being said, I wanted the single to be more thrashy. I thought the return of Zombie meant that, but I guess not. Sounds more like Switchblade and The Thread from The Act. It's pretty good, 3.5/5.

Like Daughter from Transit Blues is so much faster than this. Hoping this was one of the slower songs on the EP.

I am also getting a little tired of 4 measures of just vocals and drums. I want more riffs.

New song is better than I thought it'd be, the intro riff went dummy hard and I wanted more of that tho. Rest of the song was just pretty decent

I think the new one will be a solid 3.5, there's just no way they could have topped this with the band being somewhat creatively spent over the last decade.
For what it is, I like it. We need more creepy samples tho

Also the whole band is different besides Mike and Jeremy.
I like it, but I guess I was expecting different writing styles. This happened with The Act, too. I was iffy at first, but then fell in love with it. 8:18 was the only record at release that didn't hit.

"That being said, I wanted the single to be more thrashy"
Vocals aside, this was my real issue with it. Where are the RIFFs, speed and heaviness. That is what Zombie 1 blew me away with. This sounded like a "heavier" cut off of The Act which is not what I was looking for at all.

Lol I literally just texted this to my bud. I love The Act, but this felt like the heavy side of The Thread with the cool, evil vocals from the beginning of Outnumbered.
I agree with Jay. This will probably fall under 3-3.5 for me. I think returning to Zombie without the original keyboardist shows, too.

I was kinda excited for the new Zombie stuff but yeah the single has none of the energy that made this EP fun, and Mike's current vocal style has zero ferocity so even if they really bring it with the music he's going to drag everything down.

I just want the tenacity that he gave in the last 10 seconds of the single. I know he has it in him (I heard him tear things up during their Zombie / Space digital show in late 2020).
It really just comes down to style. It feels like 8:18 again where people wanted the brutal Dead Throne sound evolved, but he went in a post-hardcore direction.

Well, I am glad at least someone likes it. I don't think I am going to bother with it. Havn't really appreciated the band in awhile now. Key of the Evergreen was the last song they dropped that got me HYPED.
