I'm sure you'll appreciate the t/t in time, man. Especially if you read what it's about.

Oh everything about it is amazing. But what's the t/t about? And in case you haven't heard I prefer
darker music over anything else so maybe that's why I like WTTM that much.

Oh ok fair enough. Wish you Were Here is about their old singer, Syd Barrett, who pretty much went schizophrenic and crazy off all the drugs they did (it was in the 60s and their psychedelic era). It's one of the saddest stories ever, and the worst part is when he was about 40 and they were making WYWH he came into the studio completely casually and they didn't even recognise him. Shine on You Crazy Diamond is about the same thing.

Oh....well that's sad. Phenomenal though. I really don't know why I prefer darker music. I just think it has more to say I guess.

Yeah it's depressing as fuck. But if you haven't heard other Floyd albums the majority of their lyrics are about death, madness and war so you'd probably dig them haha. I think they have some of the best lyrics ever.

um syd was only 29 when wywh came out
|

have you seen that pic of him from the sessions though holy fuck

Yep, too depressing. Hairless, obese and eyes "like black holes in the sky". Such a sad story :[

Rowan, I've heard The Wall and Animals and loved them both. Don't remember Dark side too well but I
remember not liking it too much. Idk lyrics about having a good time just doesn't do it for me that
often for some reason. I favor more thought provoking shit. It just so happens that most of that stuff
happens to be darker so yea haha

Whenever that story bums me out too much I think "well at least Syd inspired two of the greatest songs ever" and I feel better.

@Mongi I reckon you'd dig pretty much all Floyd from Dark Side to the Final Cut if you like thought-provoking music, maybe you should try jamming them while reading the lyrics sometime? That's what got me into Floyd.

rowan i have this dvd called 'the pink floyd and syd barrett story' it's really interesting shit, has long ass interviews with both gilmour and waters

Maybe I'll try it again soon.
Rowan look up Romance Of A Dead Kingdom by Rishloo. Fuckin love lyrics like that.
|
| |
by all accounts syd was quite happy later in life he just lived as a hermit and saw his sister and painted all day and rode his bicycle around and people mostly left him alone
iirc gilmour said on that dvd it upset syd to see people from the early period of his life so he just let it be

I'll definitely check out that DVD sometime, and yeah I've heard that Syd had a happy later life but it was still such an incredible waste of potential. RIP

Also those were good lyrics Mongi, although a bit too vague for my liking.

You should listen to DSOTM again dude, it's a chronicle of life from birth and death but told in a non-obvious way.
