Oo, I hadn't heard that. Been bumping Indestructible a fair amount lately, a new album should be good.
But seriously, bloc, you really should listen to this, it's got the solos.

i thought it was supposed to be 2011

I got this on my comp, so I'll probably be getting to it soon.
It could be 2011 but I read it was going to be this fall, I'm not sure. I do the know the title will be "Asylum".

I'll definitely be checking that out, Donegan's guitarwork has gotten really good.

@Emim: I actually have checked out Damnation, and I was very impressed. I tried a few other Opeth songs, and their skill is undeniable. I can't quite get into them yet (other than Damnation), cause of the death vocals, but I do see why they're so well-liked, the songwriting is very good.

I only just got Damnation. I love the softer side of Opeth.
You should also check out the song To Bid You Farewell from their album Morningrise. It's an acoustic ten-minute epic.

I'll look that one up sometime. I'll probably end up checking out the rest of their stuff eventually anyway.

Yeah. Watershed is pretty accessible, I find, and it was the first "death metal" I ever enjoyed (although 'Heir Apparent' really is the closest thing to it on that album).

Yeah, that was actually the other album of theirs I tried listening to. I actually didn't hate it, my favorite that I heard from that was Burden. I think the death vocals could grow on me since I like all the other elements of their music.
|
| |
Neat. When I heard the album the first time, I didn't hate the vocals (as I was into some metalcore crap at that point) but ultimately respected them? Kind of hard to describe. I've come to love them though, I'm confident that you're well on your way.

Mikael has some of the best growls around, and he has a fantastic clean voice as well.
To Bid You Farewell is and will always be my favorite Opeth song.
