as soon as I saw the rating I thought "attention-seeking pseudo-reivew". glad to see my sixth sense still functioning so well.
to reviewer: bet you were one of those guys calling Dimebag a 'nu-metal faggot' when he died, weren't you?
you know what? this review makes me 'FUCKING HOSTILE!!!!"

Pos'd cos review was genuinely well written (despite being a bit ranty).

Neg'd because he doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about. And i've already said it, but i'll say it again: i'm all for opinions, but masquerading opinions as facts and then expecting people to hate is cause for concern against the reviewer's mental stability
|

yeah!

When people say Dimebag was only inflated to guitar god status after his death, i'm pretty sure they never read the sheer amount of wankage in guitar magazines that was devoted to the guy in the months preceding his death. Fact is, he was right in the middle of his peak of popularity for countless drunken antics despite his best years long behind him and playing in a band that wasn't really getting a lot of attention.
His death only immortalised him for some people as a guy who lived the rock star life to the fullest. It didn't instantly inflate his status from somebody who was regularly written off as an overrated nobody to a guitar god overnight, people were already painting him that way.

Known for the DAWN of time. Anyone else think that Mouth for War and Regular People (Conceit) fucking destroy?

Album Rating: 4.0
Mouth for War and Fucking Hostile are probably my two favorite songs on here. Followed closely by Regular People and This Love. Then followed not so closely by Walk, By Demons Be Driven and Hollow. The rest are good too.

Damn, this review is so far from the truth it's almost not even funny. But, alas, it IS funny.
"Then, it happened. While performing with a side project called "Damageplan", guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott was shot and killed on stage. This made Pantera's success skyrocket overnight and gave Abbott the title of "guitar god" posthumously."
I knew as soon as I read this little bit here^ that you were probably under the age of 18. As someone who was playing guitar and reading magazines like Guitar World, Guitar One, Revolver and Hit Parader from about 1998 through 2003, Dime was universally praised before his death.
He won metal guitarist of the year like 4 years in a row during the time period mentioned above, and that was while he was still playing in Pantera (up through 2001 at least). He was on the wall of every Guitar Center in the country and had his own column in Guitar World every month. He was a legend wayyyyyy before he died.
I won't deny that they were a huge influence on the nu metal genre, that's true. But just because a bunch of shitty bands ripped off their style doesn't mean Pantera suck. Just like when Norma Jean ripped off Botch it didn't mean that Botch started to suck -- that's a really poorly constructed argument dude.

Inveigh speaks the truth. I remember Dimebag getting his balls washed by Metal Edge, RIP, and Hit Parader back in the early 90's. Holy shit the thought of those magazines take me back.
