I absolutely adore this album. For years I only knew Xasthur (the old stuff) in black metal but since the start of 2023 it changed as I discovered many different bm bands / artists.

Loving the raw production and that the bass guitar is audible and does some nice stuff sometimes.

If someone has trouble getting into this album I might recommend "Over Bjoergvin Graater Himmerik" by Taake. The vocals are always in norwegian but I think it's a bit easier to get into than this one here. For me both albums are on the same high level.

This band and Xasthur are both amazing. This album and Telepathic With the Deceased (hell add in Distant in Solitary Night by Judas Iscariot) are top 10 bm albums of all time for me.

Yeah I like Telepathic With The Deceased too (but not as much as A Gate Through Bloodstained Mirrors, but the one where the song Summon The End Of Time is included).

As with Judas Iscariot, I have the album Thy Dying Light (1996). Very good stuff.

Maybe because of Xasthur it's quite easy for me to get into the more raw black metal stuff (like Darkthrone - Transilvanian Hunger and Gorgoroth - Under The Sign Of Hell). But I also love other bm albums like Immortal - Sons Of Northern Darkness, Emperor - In The Nightside Eclipse, Lifelover and the most recent album of Mist Of Misery.

Listen to Molten Hands Reach West by Grave Pilgrim. Found it recently, great raw bm with a folky twist. Also the new Brii album is raw/avant-garde bm with like techno mixed in and it slayz. m///

I became fully groove oriented as a human once I discovered beatdown and core and now a lot of bm just sounds formless to me. Brain defect

If you know any bm with breakdowns lm/////k

Try the new Unfurl album. It's more like bm/sludge type but I think that might do it for you lol.

Exactly. This is exactly how bm should sound.

agreed for the most part, but the symphonic/melodic stuff is a lot more tolerable to me than most melodical metal subgenres.
