It's possible to be heavy without resorting to breakdowns and when they did get heavy, they didn't really do anything like that. Have you heard the bonus track they did when they re-released this, Rowan? It's called Weightless Underwater.

Yeah I know what you mean and I have heard that track, it's incredible. All I'm saying is I'm glad they only went heavy as little as they did because a) it makes for a brilliant balance and b) otherwise they might have become reliant on it and that's when you start resorting to breakdowns.

I looove the ending of that song, but agreed, the whole thing is great.

You heard their EP before this? It's only two songs, but they are both pretty good:

Yeah I've heard that too haha, pretty sure I've heard most TREOS songs. Ever heard of their Sounds of Sleep project?

Doesn't sound familiar. Link me?

Basically it was a project they started with (I think it was) 5 songs that all represented different stages of sleep. And they were gonna put like subtle beats and sounds throughout the songs and stuff that represented the different stages of sleep, it sounded so cool. But they never actually finished the project and idk how far they got into it, but they released one song from it at some point, I'll try find it.

Thanks a bunch.

That's a pretty cool idea. Too bad it didn't get fully realized.

Yeah I agree. I really wish they would come back with Casey (preferably with Casey splitting his time between the two bands) and finish that off and then keep making an albums. A more BTHATS-like album, following on from Weightless Underwater would be incredible. But y'know, not likely.

Have you heard their self-titled EP, the one that has The Art of Subversion, demos of War of All Against All and Dead Men Tell No Tales and the two interludes?

I didn't know that existed. I thought the only thing before this was the demo tracks that I linked. I am basing that off
what I found off of Amazon though since that is where I bought everything I have by them.

Ah well it does exist, I can give you a link if you want hahah. I never thought I'd say this about any album but the interludes are the best part; the demos of War and Dead Man are decent but not close to the versions on this album, the Art of Subversion is kinda shit by TREOS standards, but damn the interludes are beautiful.

The Art of Subversion is so good. I have their old demo e/p on an old ipod that only works while it is being charged so hopefully she hangs on for awhile. Also, shirtsleeves is super slick as well.

The Earth Sings... is just a much more personal album, which may be why some have a more difficult time getting into it. I also really appreciate how they tried something completely different and didn't go for a rehash sans Casey. I feel like they pulled off exactly what they were going for on the album. And the song and album names are just so ridiculously awesome to me. You have everything from Carl Sagan references to references to Pythagoras and his music of the spheres concept.

I think I actually like Earth Sings just a bit more than this. The concept behind it is pretty cool and impressively done. I do miss the triple vocals on that album though.
