I'm an hour or so away from Amsterdam by train. Maybe a bit more. I don't think Amsterdam is my favourite Dutch city though, but I go there regularly for gigs because Melkweg often hosts good bands. Other than that I don't go there often.

But Amsterdam just has a few big music stores (particularly FAME) which have a special cellar dedicated to metal and everything so if I really need an obscure album - I'll buy it there

I don't like Amsterdam all that much.

About the album, pretty good on first listen, but sounds exactly like Viva Emptiness. And the vocalist sounds very, very much like Akerfeldt.

This album is good, from what I've heard so far. Gonna listen to the rest in a bit.

This album finally grew on me. It's really weird...very unlike what they've done before. A lot of the songs progress in really strange ways, which is what I think made it hard to get into...some of the songs sound like they're meandering. They also went a little overboard in the chug chug hemiola motiff...compare the beginning of "Liberation" to "New Night." lol...

Should I feel bad for thinking this album isn't metal enough? The Great Cold Distance has some nice riffing mixed in with the softer sections, but this seems to be lacking energy and ends up feeling boring to me.

Liking the proggy influences, but the album isn't as good as I hoped it'd be.

I was just thinking that it's a little too soft, but eh. It's still really sorrowful, artsy stuff, which makes it good.

To all those people who claim this to be The Great Cold Distance Pt.II or 'disappointing', you really haven't paid attention at all. This is meant to be listened to from start to finish and with a close ear. I don't want to hear your lies either stating "Oh, but I've given this a few listens blah blah blah".

I hope that Wizard is not serious so much.
Doesn't mean that I'm not going to give Night is the New Day another chance.

''departer'' and ''idle of blood'' are amongst the best melancholic metal tracks ever
