holy crap, i missed out on a lot.
just saw tame impala guyzz, they were pretty interesting live, i enjoyed.
i dont, however, enjoy the newcastle music scene, i swear half the people there were married couples with their 3 slutty daughters and pimp son.
not to mention all the flat brimmed cap douches......ahhh ill shutup

Yeah, TI have a lot of potential. Sounds like there were some lol-worthy douches in your midst, Zeke?

oh, i wouldnt believe the demograph i saw unless i had been there myself. this one guy had the sides of his hair shaved then had a rats tail at the back to complement it obvs, as well as a few safety pin piercings and about 3 teeth in total.
thought i was gonna get bashed!

I don't think its the newcastle music scene specifically, I think its the NSW music scene, as there are concerts in my neck of the woods that I could say the same thing about.
Mind you, most of the concerts I go to are local death-metal/metalcore bands, seriously, we have an insane amount of those.

spot on eclectic, if you dont play breakdowns it can be pretty hard to get a gig.

DIY gigs are the best. This year, La Dispute played two shows in Wollongong and Huskisson. The former was at a rehearsal studio, the latter was in an abandoned shack.
The moral? If you can't get gigs; make your own

Wow, that's ingenuity for you.

we used to get DIY shows in newcastle, one of my old bands got to play with jonah matranga in a warehouse, it was brilliant.
about 40 people were there and he passed around a sheet of paper and we all got write a song we wanted to hear and he played pretty much everything on there. including stuff from onelinedrawing/newendoriginal far and gratitude.

"just saw tame impala guyzz, they were pretty interesting live, i enjoyed."
Really? I saw them live and whilst they can all play their instruments, they just did not connect with the audience. I felt like I was watching a young band have a band practic in the back shed, however the shed was rod laver arena.

Haha you've probably never been to a non-arena/stadium gig
|

Nope. smallest gigs were areas like the Palais and Forum I guess. and local bands around my area that are extremely terrible.

OK, you're starting to be less shit but you've got a long way to go. Go look at my latest list and spend an hour or two with those.

Croc! Theres a band from Traralgon that you need to check out, they're called The Day Late. Kind of a cross between 'vool and Dream Theater.
|
| |
haha! Our old band played a really shitty gig in traralgon once!
|
| |
yeh they didnt really put on a show, but it was fine that way, the psych jams were great.they just let the music speak for itself, no need for pyrotechnics and onstage backflips
|
| |
it's not that, its just the fact they never looked past their instruments and rarely raised their heads. also 8 minute plus psychedelic jams in EVERY song gets old fast. I'll give them credit though, the drummer was impressive from memory.
|
| |
really? there was only one or two songs last night with extended jams, the drummer didnt really stand out for me, mind you the snare was more or less nonexistent in the mix, i thought the guitarists tones were pretty sweet really.
