I'm starting to prefer Gillan's vox to Plant's tbh. Gillan's voice just sounds much manlier imo. Plant was great, but he's kinda grown off me a bit.
Opinion ofc.

Relax, I don't think someone prefers Plant over Gillan around here
|

Lol.

I love Zep, don't get me wrong. I even 5'd PG today. But DP is just too much fun.

DP is just too much fun. [2] Gillan is certainly one to hit vastly high notes even more than Plant.
|
| |
I daresay that Sabbath sounded a bit better on studio than DP though. Again, just stating an opinion.

You could certainly say that for the production though, but they had serious competition in them for the best live hard rock band.

Yeah, DP were amazing live.

Can't think of a better band when it comes to live shows.

Though Exit Stage Left is a great live one as well, but it could use more improv.

This always seems to get overshadowed by In Rock and Machine Head. Its arguably just as good as both.
|
| |
Agreed, I like this more than MH and just as much as In Rock.
|
| |
Its probably still my least fave of the 3, with In Rock being my favorite but there isnt much between them.
|

Made in Japan will always reign supreme over all 3 anyway.
|
| |
MiJ's a bit better than the 3, agreed. The energy unleashed on there gives it the edge.

I agree with what you guys write to an extend but I can't compare a live to a studio album personally. It's got improvisations, extended jams and solos, it's a compilation of songs, etc.
|
| |
I can compare them in the sense that I know which I prefer.
|
| |
I can sympathize with what mano says, but, I think no DP studio quite
does what MiJ does. To some extent, DP kinda felt like they were
missing something in the studio that they fulfilled on MiJ.
However, I'm just stating an opinion.

"I can compare them in the sense that I know which I prefer."
Oh yeah, I can agree on that. I feel the same way about Grateful Dead's Live/Dead. However, apart from being my favorite Dead album, I wouldn't compare it to their studio efforts.
