I still have a little bit of love left for them (hence me rating their newest album a 4 when it's probably more deserving of a 3-3.5 rating in my mind). They'll never be able to top Alive or Just Breathing though.

After the first track I immediately realised why KsE weren't that great anymore, it's Jesse.

^that's definitely part of it. Jesse's vocal melodies (screaming and clean) were just so much more... I dunno.. passionate? I think it's also that Adam D. took over primary song-writing duties after AOJB (Joel wrote most of that album) and his style is just more poppy overall.
I do think The Empire Shall Fall is awesome -- musically and vocally. But the lyrics are so cheesy sometimes that it almost ruins it (like the psuedo-christian, super-positive lyrics he was always known for, but now it's almost drifting into self-parody).
But as long as I'm not paying TOO close attention to the lyrics (and mainly only the songs at the end of the album) it's super enjoyable.

yeah, that's a good start. if you use amazon.com you can buy either of their cds used for under 2 bucks. In very good to like new condition no less.

Nice, I approve. They're sort of like Corrosion of Conformity or Down -- only with Jesse's vox obviously. I got both of em for under $8 total (including shipping).

they definitely do -- but in a good way. Like the Down-ish, COC-ish, even ETID-ish way. Although don't expect much screaming out of Jesse.
