"Atmosphere of this one is damn oppressive. The whole thing feels shrouded in black fog"

Agreed.

Finally checking this out. This has got to be one of the smoothest albums they made. Was surprised how easy it went down on first listen, like the most accessible parts of Children of God spread out over an entire album.

People will always say Soundtracks or Seer were their best. I mean I've been listening to Soundtracks for years now, repeated listens...and I still think the album is a mixed bag and maybe a bit too experimental. Seer is amazing, but I also think To Be Kind came in two years later and eclipsed it too. But albums like this one or Children of God also deserve mention too because of how goddamn consistent in quality they are throughout the listen.

Jarboes vocals in mother father are so fucking on point. The cleans, the chanting BVs and those amazing throaty yells at the end.

The only one here I regularly come back to is Celebrity Lifestyle but whenever I give this a full listen I remember "hey yeah there are a bunch of other great songs on here"

I think you may find the digestion time is due to the song forms

Or rather, the lack of wanting to come back. But as you said. There's a lot of good stuff here
