But thinking this is one of the best 5 albums of all-time means you don't know enough music for your opinion on this album to be anything more than hopelessly biased. There are literally tens of thousands of albums in the world better than this, and I actually feel sorry for you if you believe otherwise."
I know, because an album by Fall Out Boy is definitely one of those 10,000 albums. Don't forget Jimmy Eat World and Coldplay. Blink-182s greatest hits is definitely 4/10 material. Don't give me shit when you listen to garbage like that.
Regardless of how messed up his ratings may or may not be, he's right.

Why does it always have to come down to digging through people's ratings to find the few mainstream albums with high scores to try and prove a point...
|
| |
Because it's the easiest way to prove a point.
Brent, you like ABBA, your opinion is worthless.

Pretty strong words from a guy who likes Scary Kids Scaring Kids...oh yeah...I just took it one step farther by going through your music on Facebook...
And anybody who honestly dislikes ABBA must hate happiness...plus they're musical geniuses but w/eThis Message Edited On 05.16.09

Oh, you're asking for it. You're "kind of looking forward to the new Blink 182 album", so watch it. Haha.

It's an extremely lazy way to prove a point. I'm a lazy person. Go figure.
You have to admit, him giving me crap over Green Day, while he has Fall Out Boy at 4.5 is pretty hilarious. This Message Edited On 05.16.09

I don't really think it proves anything at all other than the fact that everybody has some guilty pleasures...

Yeah, it's like: "Your musical taste is diverse, and I'm narrowminded therefore..."

seriously, opinions are legit, that's fine,
but anybody who thinks this album is 'classic' NEEDS TO LISTEN TO MORE MUSIC.

I'm surprised that this internet is so small as to not offer any better entertainment than to ridicule people based on their music taste.

This album is great, i dunno y sputnik is criticising the hell outta it! All the other sites give brilliant deserving reviews like - kerrang(5/5), Rolling Stone(4.5), AbsolutePunk.net(91%) etc... Lowest rating ive seen apart from Sputnik is 3/5 so theres something going on! How come everyone here hates it, the album is really creative, polished and most of the 18 are good. Best album of the year so far.
It's a change in style, they've expanded their horizons and making more epic music, ditched their simple roots. Get used to it this album rocks! This Message Edited On 05.16.09

American Idiot was great, and this is even better! They've become really creative, what a great sound. Most of the 18 songs are good if not great. The only song i reckon is crap is "Know your Enemy" cant believe its a single its the most repetitive thing ive ever heard i was shocked/laughing after a while lol.
Great interesting album, lots of variety and polished very well. Can't stop listening to this album. Kerrang gave it 5/5, Rolling Stone gave it 4.5, All Music gave it 4 and AbsolutePunk 91%. The lowest rating ive seen apart from this site is 3/5 so i dunno wats going on...
Kickass album, much better than expected. Even better than American Idiot!

beats me, seriously. Kerrang's always been on Green Day's dick, but the general positive response from most major review publications is baffling to me. I guess it wins bonus points for its ambition and classic rock ripping, but I don't see how those things are positives. Most of the other reviews I've read have been praising this for its "unerring ability" to deliver a pop hook but is that really all it takes to give an album 4 stars?

maybe it has to do with the fact that kerrang, rolling stone, and absolutepunk are mainstream music sites designed to cater to people who have absolutely no idea what good music is.

lol how are Kerrang and Rolling Stone tools? And anwayz wat about All Music and AbsolutePunk? Just to add to the record, The Observer gave it 4/5 and USA Today 3.5/4. Also and i thought my first comment failed so i re-typed one. I just signed up to this site, couldnt resist to comment cos of my shock at these ppl's poor ratings. Green Day have explored new sounds and their songs sound more epic and 'lastable.' I love their old simple punk tunes as well, but how can u not appreciate these songs. I wouldnt call the album a masterpiece but boy it delivers quality that will be remembered for a long time.
