And they'd pay in foreign-looking coins that'd
turn to dust in his DRESSERRRR BY MORNING, YEAH

The lyrics actually mean things and are actually poetic!

Album still holds up so beautifully. I adore all 3 of their LP's - can't wait for Pretty Years

I've listened to this a handful of times over the last couple of months and I think today is the first time the second half has properly clicked for me. Stunning record

I really love the first half of this especially but not listened to anything else from this band. Where to go next in their discog??

Empty Country's self-titled, Joe's new solo project thingy. he dropped it early I assume because of virus-related stuff. gonna have to review it, shit's incredible

“...And the Hazy Sea” is one hell of an opener.

it could probably stand to be like 4:30-5:00 though, even though that's "the point", all the epicness and hairpin structural turns (they love those!) and whatnot. great great band though, so underrated. when this came out it pumped me up so much. I think I said this earlier but I still revisit "some trees" every month or so. no bad tracks, a few great ones
edit: wow, apparently I thought this was duking it out with MPP back in 2009

What did you make of Empty Country? That was my introduction to this band, loved that so went back to LOSE and now this.
|
| |
indie folk tag is still putting me off, tho i'm not surprised he'd go for a more singer-songwriter turn after hearing Lose.

I wouldn’t call the Empty Country album indie folk, it’s definitely still indie rock primarily but I guess less focused on epic guitar work than LOSE and instead has a bit more intricacy/variety in the arrangements.

This is still the best album from these guys, and the Empty Country is 2nd in the D'Agostino discog
