I was only 7 when that came out. Music wasn’t on the agenda other than Wacko Jacko, School hymns and the odd ditty on the radio or belted out down the local.

"SPIN was wrong about this being the best album in the last 25 years, but they were right about it being the most influential."
how so? i mean, i love the record but it seemed more like a case of the band being hugely influenced than the other way around

Yeah, there's no denying that With or Without You is a great tune.

And pretentious. At least for the past few decades, maybe not in the 80s and early 90s.

No doubt man. Perfect description.
This, The Joshua Tree and Zooropa are decent though. Haven’t heard War in years but I think I also liked that. Basically, I’ve hated everything since Zooropa.

The rare U2 album where all of the deep cuts are substantially better than the singles (well, except for One). Acrobat, Ultraviolet, Trying To Throw Your Arms Around the World, and Zoo Station are all amazing songs.

U2 are an inflated, augmented, marketed bollocks who were utterly unidentifiable with.
Good album though.

I was a little younger than you when this came out. I remember my dad bought it and that’s how I heard it. Was 9 or 10.
