I just love the way it gets you right into the album and there's not some dumb instrumental to open the album. I only like those on symphonic black metal albums lol.

Getting shit for saying this is better than the Jester Race seems odd...though I haven't listened to
that entire album, what I have heard is utterly boring and unremarkable.

However, I just bought a copy of this album (not a re-release either!) and I am now excited to listen
to it. Though I don't think it'll be terribly life-changing.

The Jester Race? Unremarkable? Who the hell told you that? They deserve to be castrated, and then un-castrated, and then re-castrated.

I haven't heard The Jester Race, but this is much better than anything I've heard from In Flames and I've heard a few of their early albums. Dark Tranquillity is just better than In Flames overall.

I believe that In Flames is more of a mixed bag, while Dark Tranquillity is more consistent. In Flames' best material outdoes Dark Tranquillity, while their worse material falls behind.

This is a fantastic album. I still prefer The Jester Race though. The guitar work just seems more powerful on that album.
