Now that Ive had a few spins, its a good album but doesnt hold my interest. Songs start cool as then die out quickly.
Has already become a beer coaster.

I truly dont know what the hyp is about this album. Yes, it is back to there roots, yes it is heavier than there past 4 albums, and yes is it a huge step up but comparing this to there 1st 4 albums is a completely joke.
I do like the instrumental track though. Great to hear some solo's and some more thrashy songs.
cant wait to see them again!

LOL. Wow.
Not a bad album, anyway. I wouldn't consider it great, though. Some of the songs go on for too long, most of the solos are terrible..etc. With more work, it could have been a really good album.

This is the first Metallica Album I've purchased, so I can't compare it to they're other
albums, but there are songs on Death Magnetic that I feel are right up there with the classic metallica numbers like Master of Puppets and One.
All nightmare long, end of the line,... two songs that I will remember from this album, and everyone else should remember them too.
the rest was either pretty good or just average though. it had more of the "pretty good" Imo, as I gave it a 4 not a 3.5

foo fighters don't sound like metallica. not in the slightest.
Dave Grohl effing worships them, but the musical paths of the two bands are miles apart.
