all the shitty pop punk bands that have popped up in the last few years have made me appreciate Dookie more and more. it's hard to believe people called this "watered down" in the 90s.

Only good thing is audible bass, everything else is power chords, average drumming, and lyrics with political undertones that nobody cares about.

Green Day, Offspring, Rancid, Bad Religion, NOFX, Pennywise, and many more were the sounds of my youth maaan. I was such a little punk. My older bro used to play Dookie, Smash, and Out Came The Wolves all day. So fuck it this is a classic to me. Green Day is overrated as a whole, and I hate their post 90s stuff, but Dookie and Insomniac are as good as 90s punk gets.

"Good times"
Good times? Until you started listening to mainstream metal? Your taste has obviously advanced too far to listen to petty Dookie. The rest of us are waiting to be enlightened but in the meantime we're stuck with this simple punk music. FUCK YOU INFERNAL RUIN

About 80% of Green Day's fan-base chooses Dookie as their favorite album. 18-19% most likely choose American Idiot. American Idiot killed me when I heard it. I couldn't believe the band I loved most just got up and changed what they stood for. It pissed me off. Though, looking back, I think I hated it because (unlike previous GD albums) it got overhyped by 11-15 year olds who commenced a "dress-like-Billie-Joe trend" and overplayed some tracks that I would have loved. Bastards. Dookie was amazing (still not my favorite). It was an example of when the band first began to click. Mike was evolving as a bassist, Billie as a song-writer (and a father), and Tre' mastering the drums. Dookie a true classic.
