Yeah, it's almost like you made broad generalisations without bothering to check up on them. I'm 17 and I've rated over 200 albums, plus however many I haven't bothered with. So, you're the fag.

No, Wizard knows more about metal now than you ever will. You should just stop now before you embarrass yourself.

That doesn't change a thing about what he and I just said.

Change? No. Influence? Hopefully.

I'm 17 and I've rated over 200 albums,

Of course it was an exaggeration but I think my point is proven through my last post.

That doesn't change a thing about what he and I just said.

Does that change a thing?^^^

I don't see how your point was proven at all. Your exaggeration had nothing behind it. You made something completely normal into something bad. It had no relevance.

Okay, wizard has a great knowledge of metal. So I suppose his opinion has more weight than mine. Doesn't mean my opinion is worthless though. I've already explained why I gave this album a 5 - not because its new, original or anything like that. Because it happened to connect with me on a personal level. I'm sure both of you have albums that you've connected with and thus percieve as brilliant, even though people with more knowledge, and thus are supposedly better than you, think otherwise.

You've yet to explain why I was called a fag for disliking this album yet you get pissy for getting called a fag in return.

No I didn't care about getting called a fag. It's just a random insult thats gets flung around on the internet. Doesn't mean jack. People had been throwing it around earlier in the thread.

I got pissy at the retarded generalisations. I just threw the fag back for the sake of it.

So basically, you did it because other people do it

You have a problem being generalized.... why?

It's your lack of knowledge that I was proving.

So I suppose his opinion has more weight than mine. Doesn't mean my opinion is worthless though.

No one said it wasn't. My knowledge has come with time and I'm still far behind most people on this site. The only reason people are disagreeing with you is because these albums are a dime a dozen and trendy as fuck. But I understand why you like this album. We all have albums that are pretty emotional to us because they connected on a specific level that was relevant at the time. However, I almost tend to think that rating albums like this is biased. I enjoy old Korn albums because they connected with me when I was a teenager. This doesn't dismiss the fact that they are horrible musicians.

wizard, only a few people are disagreeing with me. The majority of people who have listened to this album agree with me. I listen to a fair amount of metalcore, and as far as my ears can tell, this band does what other bands do, except a million times better. It connected with me on an emotional level and that's why I love it, but I don't see it as a bad album. The emotional connection is what raises it from a 4 or a 4.5 into a 5. But I do see the whole thing as spectacularly good song writing, much like Underoath's new album.

It is, I'll agree with that, but that's not the point I was making.

maybe in an ideal world that would be the case, but realistically the genre a band is playing greatly affects outsiders perceptions.

rx bandits are a good example, some people say theyre ska, others say theyre progressive rock, the ones who think theyre ska generally think they suck, the ones who think theyre progressive generally dont think they suck.

Actually, I saw Shai Hulud in concert and have heard their material. They are EXACTLY like every other boring hardcore band.

And this

So seriously you don't like Controller? Good for you, no one loves you and you'll die alone and lonely with a cat chewing on your balls.

This makes everything you say on this website from now on completely pointless, because you proved you're just an asshole.

In all honesty, yes, Redd doesn't go out of his way to present a compelling argument without baseless and/or offensive side remarks.
