This band is great, I am wearing one of their t-shirts right now and the first thing that comes to my mind is the solo on Ometh. Its sick and gives me the goosebumps everytime that I listen to it.

I'm surprised no one mentioned the awesome funk shuffles this band has.
NO other band is incorporating funk and 70's music grooves and shuffles into their music.

the first paragraph of this review makes me instantly dismiss it as bullshit..
I do really quite like this band and the songs on this album are pretty good, i like Cursing Akenaten the most..
but calling them 'technical metal legends'.. is really.. wrong.

While they're definitely not "technical metal legends," After The Burial is definitely a great group. Their musicianship is top-notch and they definitely show some amazing potential. While not every song on the album does it for me, there are definitely a few gems, notably "Berzerker," and "Cursing Akenaten."
Also, their breakdowns are definitely not your run-of-the-mill chug fests.

The breakdowns are fairly chuggy but, they are definitely worse breakdowns. I prefer Forging a Future Self over this album.

sure the breakdowns are chuggy but they're quite different than normal chuggerz. they use poly rhythms a lot.
i think forging has way more of a metalcore sound than this album. i wish they would've re-recorded that instead of rareform; the production is really poopy at times.

Giving this album a 5 is pretty laughable. Theres one decent track on it - aspirations. The rest is pretty boring

Trying to hard to be Meshuggah.

Meshuggah? Really? Did you even listen to the CD?
Oh wait. You like Brand New. Nevermind.
It's called djent. This is like a djent technical metalcore record or some shit. Who the fuck knows. But it's good.

This has to be, if not, THE album After The Burial has released. Being there second album, coming from such a shitty sound quality but good first album, they progressed much. The technicality of this album is only surpassed by the brutality of sounds that come out my speakers when i put this albumto play. Overall I think this album is AMAZING and can only get better as the years pass. NOTE: I like the re-released "Rareform" much better
