Orchid had it's fair share of errors, but still amazing, especially for a debut album.

That's exactly what I was gonna say lol

Still Life is tops for me (though this is damn close), probably because it's their most epic album (imo) and I love epicness.

It wouldn't be a proper Opeth discussion without people starting to rank their favorite albums, now would it?

I prefer MAYH to BwP and Ghost Reveries. It's almost as good as this for me, again, really close, hell, they're all really close, cause even though I don't care much for BwP, it's still so good.

Music has nothing to do with consistency or some rational mind critics like "why this" or "why not that instead" or "this suite of sounds(music parts) make no-sense and its going nowhere"

Of course, music is going nowwhere its like dancing

are you going from point A to B when dancing, no,

music is similar to dancing in that regard.

Music is a form of art that has very little to do with the intellect

In fact, it has nothing to do at all with the intellect and concept.

Its all about feelings, emotion and a strange communion between the artist and the observer(listener)

oh..indeed...and Opeth rule in that state of affairsThis Message Edited On 06.06.08

I disagree. A guitarist(or any other musician) needs to know a lot about music to transfer those emotions to a sound that fits those emotions and gets the listener feeling them too. And that takes intellect. This Message Edited On 06.06.08

In the execution (in the act of playing the instrument) yes, its true

Not in the listening experienceThis Message Edited On 06.06.08
