Yeah, this has grown on me so much. I like it more than Wish You Were Here now, so it's only behind The Wall at this point.

Huh, Wish You Were Here would be my favorite, Animals is second, and than I'd probaly go with the Wall and Dark Side.

Musically this is maybe Floyd's strongest. Lyrically I prefer The Wall though.

that makes sense but i think the lyrics here are more important representing all the flaws of capitalism and mirroring the points in Orwell's Animal Farm, something i didn't even realize until recentlyThis Message Edited On 08.12.08

 that sucks you didn't realize that until a while after listening to the album. That was the initial reason I picked up Animals. I finished reading Animal Farm and 1984 right around the time I started getting into Pink Floyd.

to me that seemed lukewarm about the album, but then again I'd picked it up after i got into Gatsby's American Dream and was conditioned to bands mirroring Animal Farm.

This is by far my favourite Pink Floyd album. It is quite underrated, and Pink Floyd even admitted that this album was somewhat rushed.
Anyways, out of my top 5 favourite Pink Floyd songs, Dogs Pigs (Three Different Ones) and Sheep are all in there.
I remember buying this album in stores when I first got into Dark Side of the Moon, and I listened to the song "Dogs." I didn't really like it at that time. Without even listening to the whole album, I set it away. About a year later I found it just laying around and plugged it into my Itunes and imported the whole CD, but didn't think I would really end up listening to it. Giving it a few more listens I got a bit more into it, and eventually it became my favourite album of all time.
The reason I like this album so much is because the entire Animals album is guitar dominated. Dogs has many solos, including the harmony you hear twice in the song. Pigs (Three Different Ones) has an extremely underrated guitar solo at the end, and of course Sheep has the really catchy guitar riff to close the song.
5/5

floyd strip back their sound to a degree on this album, and the result is a rustic masterpiece steeped in beautiful musicianship and heavily cynical themes.
still one of the best albums i own

But then again, Pink floyd is just too good overall, you know? But I will say Animals is severly underrated, regardless of being a Floyd record or not. You oughta check some of the bootlegs from the 75 tour where they perform Dogs (aka You gotta Be Crazy) and Sheep (Raving and Drooling) before they came out with the end result of Animals.
