I remember not looking how the vocals sounded on the post Below The Lights ones. They lost some punch for me, in the music too. They became less adventurous or something. We'll see!

Probably something to do with whichever you come into first, got to Axioma first and love the later stuff, never got as into their pre-Monumension shindigs.
And then there's the peeps that heard Enslaved later in their black metal foray on both counts, that seem to just not like Enslaved very much period :'(

I first started exploring them well after my solely-metal-because-I'm-a-teen phase. Yet their early half CLICKED!!! Still, there might be truth to what you're saying.
