I really thought lyrically Slug was pretty nice on this. I agree that he has been flat lately. Some really corny lines on Felt 3 and To All My Friends. I guess I understand why you guys rate it lower, but I still love Lemons. I think it's the most cohesive of any of their albums, even though it's differently paced. And I love Ant's work on it. Dude is just nasty.
I'm really surprised you guys are rating You Can't Imagine higher than this. I think there are maybe only 3 really good songs. I love "Little Man" but that record is mostly junk and I almost never listen to the whole thing.

man, I feel like that record is way more consistent than this one, although I've still got it at a 3 -- it could easily be a 3.5 I guess.
I think this one's got a lot of corny lines too, and I feel like he's just telling stories for the sake of story-telling -- there's no deeper meaning with anything here, it's all just surface level.
No Regrets by Aesop is an example where the song's a story, but it's metaphorical. Slug used to do that too (see God's Bathroom Floor, The Woman With the Tattooed Hands, Hair, etc.) but I feel like he's just lost some inspiration or something. He's aged better than a lot of rappers (especially indie rappers), but he's just missing the fire and/or passion from his earlier works. I feel like he still had some of that on You Can't Imagine.
and yeah Felt 3 was good (mainly for Aesop's production), and Slug and Murs both sounded better on that than some of their other recent stuff, but it would have been so much better if Aesop had just taken that record and made it a solo joint for himself.

i know Aesop has a bunch of upcoming projects like the Hail Mary mallon thing with Rob swift and some other stuff. Cage-movies for the blind and Hells Winter are great records. Hs next album(supposedly next year) is supposed to do some movies for the blind type shit instead of his current emo faggotry.
shoulda known and yesterday are the best on this
