I listened to Night on Brocken and wasn't impressed. Vox were unbearable on that one, which is weird since the power-metal high pitched is usually just my thing.
Clearly Plazz has been able to see beyond the vox on this, so that gives me some hope. Still, it's rough so far, still not digging John Arch, but the music is significantly better than the debut, I'll give it that.

John Arch is really hit and miss when it comes to vocals. Sometimes he nails it completely, other times he sounds like an unrestrained goat on heat

Don't get me wrong this is some advanced stomach level shit when it comes to the vox but I've come to the point where this really hits me right, the vox and the riffs vibe so well together imo. By contrast, Arch/Matheos is a no-go for me atm because of the waily vox, it's just too much.

^This but with Awaken the Guardian instead of the debut.

Y'all I try with this band, I really do. The vox are just unbearable. Most of this is borderline cringe. I couldn't help but laugh at the run at the end of orphan gypsy. Like...guy has skills but he sings like he's a lead guitarist. Somebody should have reeled him way, way in.

Couldn't disagree more. John Arch's vocals are half of why I love this era of Fates Warning so much.

I respect your opinion and know there's many who take that side, could just be me.

monthly re-listen and yeah I still feel that way about the vocals. Can't even consider the music.
I'm struggling to think of something I've heard of, in my entire lifetime, that had vocals this disruptive to my enjoyment of a thing.
