nothing quite on par in my opinion. Meditations is similar in that it has the song suite form too, and the spiritual focus, but it's alot more full on right from the start and the line up is expanded. i'm not a big free jazz fan and i absolutely love that album now, but i didn't check it for years and probably would've dismissed if i heard it too early.

aside from that, pretty much anything recorded around the similar time - Sun Ship, The John Coltrane Quartet Plays. same line up as this, similar approach to ballads like in Psalm, similar playing style. both great listens but neither as good as this to me.

but his discography is full of incredible albums - Giant Steps, My Favorite Things, Ole Coltrane, Crescent, Africa/Brass, Live At Birdland, Live At The Village Vanguard...those are all released in between Blue Train and A Love Supreme. any of those are worth a listen to say the least.

Never has so much emotion flowed through a single instrument than through John Coltrane's sax

nice let me know how it turns out, it looks interesting

lately i've just been floating through SOD's catalog and it's associative artists discographies, and it's made for very pleasurable listening ! lots of great ambient/drone/EAI so if you're looking of something of that nature then go no further
