Wow. I can't fucking believe my review started this big of a debate. Haha. I hadn't been on here in like a day, and this was my first review on Sputnik, and I have like ten pages of comments. That's just crazy.
Um, as far as my opinion goes, I don't really give a shit about genres. I think they're stupid and unnecessary and overcomplicated. I listen to the bands that I like, and I basically call a band whatever genre I think fits. I don't think genres are set things...I mean, so many different musical elements go into labeling a genre, that there isn't really a right or wrong way to do it. "Deathcore" may be a bullshit genre, but it's basically the best fit for BMTH. They have the really fast drumming, guitar parts, basslines, etc. coupled with really harsh vocals and a lot of death-metal growls. They also have really melodic guitar solos and a nice sense of rhythm. Therefore, that's somewhere along the lines of melodeath/death metal. Plus, they have breakdowns, and a lot of them. So that's hardcore/metalcore/whatevercore. So....death + core = deathcore. That's what I consider them, and it doesn't really matter about anything else.
I really don't feel like commenting on every single argument here, so I guess I'll just end my opinions there.
I went to the show at Waverly Hills by the way...drove up from Russell County about two hours, stood in line for about four, missed several bands I wanted to see (The Devil Wears Prada, The Number 12 Looks Like You, Darkest Hour). My girlfriend almost passed out, but it was totally and completely worth it. Every Time I Die, Chimaira, and Lamb Of God were fucking insane. I hated Behemoth...pretty much every aspect of their performance. They're intolerant assholes that play shitty music. I'm by no means a Christian, but insulting any religion that way is just...not cool. It was probably a joke to get everyone riled up anyway. This is Kentucky, after all. I hate GWAR's music, but by God, their live show was amazing.
And yeah...that's about it. Oh yeah, totally still fucking love BMTH by the way. I know they're not reinventing anything. In fact, their style is pretty formulaic. Still probably one of my favorite metal bands though.

you should check out From Graves of Valor. it's got that new metal flavor to it like these guys, but i think they execute their music a lot better. by the way did you happen to be in that circle pit lamb of god initiated?
i dont really like every time i die and i dont even think they are really metal. i mean they were kinda the odd band out.
i like Behemoth i think their image is great i love it and i'm sure the anti-Christian remark was more of a way to get the crowd into it than anything. it didnt really bother me
also, i never really liked Gwars music either until i just decided to listen to one for a few days and give it a chance and i love it now. it's greatThis Message Edited On 11.02.07

I've not heard of them, but I'll definitely have to give them a shot.
Haha. I actually didn't get a chance to get into that pit...I was nearer to the back for Lamb Of God because I didn't want to get stuck in traffic. Still a fucking awesome show though, Lamb Of God is one of the best live bands I've heard.
Every Time I Die is a really effing weird band...I don't really know a genre classification for them, but I like their music all the same.
Behemoth's comments didn't really bother me personally, I just kind of thought it was a little too asshole-ish. But you're probably right, they were probably being all Jim Morrison and trying to get the crowd riled up.

Yeah, that's what I usually do. We actually ended up having one of my friend's moms bring us bottles of Powerade and Water at SOTU. My friends ended up having to walk down that big long-ass hill to meet her because the security guards wouldn't let her in. Everyone thought we had alcohol when they came back because it was in big brown paper bags. It was pretty amusing.
I'll try to check out both bands though. Fo' sho'.

frozen eternity sound SO much different tho i cant really compare them to fromgraves. while fromgraves is very sludgy and very modern metal sounding, frozen eternity is much more clean and neat with some black metal influences in it. from graves of valor is just staight up death metal

I'm not really a big TTEOTD fan. I hate their vocalist...both of them. I don't know. My music taste doesn't make a lot of sense sometimes. Like, people will recommend bands to me because they sound like another band that I like, but I won't actually like them. It's crazy.

yeah fromgraves do kinda sound like some of the stuff off of bloodlust but not so much through the eyes of the dead's newer stuff. i think from graves is heavier and there is more musicianship. just my opinion tho.

All Shall Perish is the only band I can take from this type of music, except for Bloodlust. From Graves Of Valor, Beneath The Massacre, BMTH, Suicide Silence, Burning The Masses, they all suck to me.
