I thought you listened to Dream Theater? You should know a thing or two about music that goes absolutely fucking nowhere and sucks fucking balls.

I think Dream Theater are very good at keeping track of where a song should go. Plus I find their vocals far less annoying than this. (Sue me, I like JLB's voice.) I know Dream Theater are all about instrumental wankery, and don't get me wrong; when they're good they're great, but they have enough songs with more focused songwriting as well.

This album doesn't have that at all. It's completely messy and loopy.

The fact that you started by saying the three people in the band who are definitely talented are the two guitarists and the drummer, and you didn't even mention the great playing of Dan Briggs, their bassist, shows that you just simply don't get this style.

I understand why you think it's messy, it is incredibly random at times. However, I feel they still go somewhere with their writing. Having said that, this id definately my favorite release of 07

I do Prefer Dream Theater to BTBAM though.

Between the Buried and Me have Dream Theater influences in their music, but I don't think the two bands are similar enough to compare.

Dream Theater's last 3 albums or so have just been awful.

This album was surprisingly good. I've heard it 4 times now and I'd have to give it a 4.5

In defense for this review (to which I don't agree) I want to say that it is always good to have reviews for an album that show different opinions. Because its very important to note that it doesn't matter how godly an album is, there is always going to be a few people who hate it.

Unless you made major changes to this review after most of the votes were cast, I think most people simply negged it for the rating. I thought it was fairly good. As for the band, I haven't been able to get into anything I've heard, although I liked the intro to one song off Alaska.

And what an intro it is, Selkies: The Endless Obsession still amazes me.

LOL at how obvious it was that you'd get obliterated for now liking this album.
Although I have to say that I don't think the review was well written, I haven't heard the album, but you didn't really get specific about the music at all other than to say it was unstructured.
I am going to borrow this off a mate soon, and then I will either massively disagree or agree with you.
