I did not say "good" I said what they are about :P Meaning I for example don't listen to people who Wanna be a rawk en roll SINGAH!! or Wanna hold my haaaand but prefer for example Three Days Grace singing about anger and angst etc.
I will check those bands out! But I am not the type of person who understands for example poetry, so even if the lyrics are really poetic or are very good but are about something I couldn't care less about/can't relate to I am probably not going to listen to the song.

Welcome to Sputnik Lelle. As others have said before, there's nothing necessarily wrong with listening to popular music (lots of those bands put out decent albums) but you should try and look for more original and/or simply better bands.
A way I suggest getting into better music is to see the "top albums" chart at the top. There will be a thing at the top that lets you sort by year, but just choose "all time" for lists of mostly "classic" records. Most (or a lot of) albums that have an average rating of 4 or better are worth getting.
A couple users here (Chaosinacan for example) have come to the site with mainly popular taste and fairly quickly found at least one original artist they like (Circle Takes the Square in his case). Hopefully you do as well.
Also, for the time being, have you heard of Paramore yet? I think several people (Staff and Contributors included) will agree Riot! is a great popular/mainstream album.

lol I automaticly (spelling?) started to mistrust that list when I found Led Zeppelin there :P I have never been much into Beatles either, I am pretty sure I remember the lyrics of one of their songs correctly ("Auw I waunna hold your haaaand" lol) and that's... not really my kind of music (same goes for most "classics" like Bob Dylan for example). I don't care if they live in a yellow submarine either :P
But this site seems great for finding good music so I think I will spend quite a lot of my freetime at the computer on this site.

^ Zeppelin are one of the best,they deserve to be there.
As for this album,I haven't heard it,but I listened to their so-called "Greatest Hits" CD (seriously,like?) and it was godawful.Nothing wrong with liking them or other popular bands,the vast majority of things I like can be filed under 'popular' but scene bands do my head in.
