Ok so I've been listening to his first 6 albums (well, the last 6 of his first 7 (six seeeeven) ) pretty much non stop for the last few weeks. I think a lot of my favourite songs are on other albums, but this is the best capital A Album of the bunch. This is the one I'm closest to 5ing. Excited to listen to Rust Never Sleeps and some of the more recent stuff.

That’s awesome man, his early work his some of my favorite folk and folk rock. Rust Never Sleeps is incredible. I HIGHLY recommend the archived, shelved albums from this period- Chrome Dreams, Homegrown, and Oceanside Countryside (not to mention the stony, acoustics Hitchhiker). These all are original albums that were originally planned as 70s albums but shelved and the songs would appear on various release over the next couple years. Also if you really dig Zuma, you should definitely check out Dume, which is a resequencing of Zuma with unreleased songs from the same sessions including original alternate versions of some of his classics like Pocahontas and Ride My Llama. Hell, the entire Archives Vol. 2 (available on streaming) is a goddamn gold mine of his best work/period. The fact that tracks like Homefires and Love/Art Blues have been lost to time until very very recently is crazy.

Those collections and the archive(s) (which contain all the shelved albums as well as being released individually) are great because in the late 70s early 80s some of his best songs that were intended for earlier release get relegated to various album. For instance, Hawks & Dove only has a 3.1 rating on Sput, but contains older tracks like The Old Homestead and Captain Kennedy, some of his best work (not to mention Little Wing and Lost in Space) and could be easily missed. Sorry I geek out with Neil, especially with his 70s work.
