I don't understand you're saying that you think maybe your father's murder was race related?

Yeah it's race related! Every problem in this country is race related not just crime. It's like... immigration, AIDS, welfare those are problems in them. The Black community, the Hispanic community, the Asian community, they're not white problems.

first of all, clearly a lot of people posting here know very little about varg and his actual beliefs, and what he actually did. to

sum it up, if everything varg says is true, his "murder" was justified, and the church burnings he took no part in.

the police wanted to make an example out of him and went around lying to people to get them to say things about varg that

would incarcerate him, true or not. people must realize that when the murder first happened, euronymous was still very

respected in the norwegian black metal scene and thus members of other black metal bands were unhappy with varg and

wanted him to go to jail. they didn't know the real story behind the events just like most people here don't.

when confronted by police, members of these other bands would claim false statements such as that varg was with them when

they burned x or y church. most (if not all) of the crimes you've heard about from the black metal scene were brought to public

spotlight during varg's case and the people who served jail time for them (crimes which were actually committed!) only did so

because their testimonies to get varg sent to prison bit them in the ass. through all the lies they ended up accidentally ratting

eachother out for the various incidents. the difference between them and varg is that those men went to jail for crimes they

actually committed, almost as a result of karma for betraying their former comrade. it is my firm belief that varg served an

unjust prison sentence for a just act he only committed to preserve his own life.

now watch that video again of varg's conviction. his smile has a new meaning, doesn't it? he's not smiling because he's a

twisted lunatic. he's smiling sarcastically at how horribly flawed the judicial system of norway (and the world) is. he's smiling

because that's all he could do when faced with such unfortunate circumstances.

ANYWAYS, as far as Filosofem is concerned, i feel that it is somewhat overrated. HLTO is commonly praised, but it deserves it.

now, Filosofem is indeed a very good album, i just don't see why so many people hype this one so much compared to his

other, better work. it just seems that this is since his most well known (and obviously the last before going to prison) people

just jump on the bandwagon and claim they love it.

And any of you complaining about his idealogies/using that as an excuse to not listen to Burzum are dumber than

lobotomized rodents. His politics are in no way, i repeat: no. way. (for those of you who are dense, NO WAY AT ALL!!!11117!!!!)

connected to his music.

Cool story bro. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if those black metal guys lied to get Varg in jail since they obviously aren't the best people. Then again, neither is Varg. Not surprised either way.

I have this but haven't had the opportunity (a quiet night alone) to listen yet.

eternium, they lied to get him in jail because they thought he killed euronymous for no reason. there's not much else we can judge their character on (not that any of us as hypocritical sinning humans have any right to judge anyone), so i don't think its fair to say they "clearly weren't the best people". when they found out the truth i'm sure all of them were ashamed, especially the ones who ended up serving prison time as a result. varg, however, said he forgives them, for they were all very young at the time and were acting irrationally under extreme external pressure from the media and police.

mobo, you dont have to read it. i put it there for people who are interested in truth. ignorance commonly reigns supreme, though.

I know I don't. I did read it actually, mostly because I like to waste as much time as possible on here it seems ("tl;dr" was just me making a point). I'm actually not that interested in the subject. I always find it interesting how people interpret and react to music. Some people enjoy music only based on the quality of the music and some people let other factors completely influence their opinion, and there are people everywhere between I'm sure.

I'm sure in the back of my mind I know that Johnny Craig has a disgusting mullet when he sings in Emarosa, and that Varg may or may not have murdered someone in cold blood and burned down some churches. But personally I try to distance myself from any opinion I have based on that kind of stuff when I'm listening to the music, because it's only gonna lessen my enjoyment. I think Tom Cruise is a pretty crazy guy but I fucking love him as an actor.

And to be honest, to write the kind of music Varg does, I'd be surprised if he wasn't a little insane (not saying he is, but I think you get it).

But you say you think Filosofem is overrated and hyped too much. I don't really know much about it's reception outside of here, but HLTO has a higher rating by .2 and a lot more votes. Why do you think this is overrated compared to that?

I've only listened to dunkelheit (burzum) so far and I like it a lot. How does the rest of the album compare?

It's pretty much along the same lines, but Dunkelheit is the best imo. Hvis Lyset Tar Oss is a better album though.

Hvis Lyset Tar Oss is the best Burzum album. And the s/t track is the best black metal song ever.

I tried listening to Hvis Lyset Tar Oss a while back, but I felt it was a bit to heavy for me.. I'm not certain I remember what I listened to or what I heard then though.
