Either In Absentia or Nil Recurring since it is made up of b-sides from FOABP if I remember correctly. I actually preferred Nil Recurring over FOABP.

Porcupine Tree is just like Kamelot in how they have never made a bad album. Anything they make is awesome.

when i discovered porcupine tree this summer, they immediately vaulted to one of my favorite bands. that ascension was completely fueled by this album. I acquired one of the dvd-a's of the album (mixed in true 5.1 surround sound) and it's incredible. the drumming in anesthetize constantly revolves around you, and hearing wilson's voice in front of you and all of his vocal layerings behind you is euphoric. i apologize for sounding like a fanboy, but this is just one of those albums for me i guess.

in absentia is better in almost every way. this is just pretentious and not even as good as the B sides (nil recurring)

In Absentia is pretty dull

Dull's a bit strong. I felt it was more of an acquired taste than FoaBP wa, it starts very dramatically with some big tracks, then mellows out very quickly. Tracks like Heartattack in a Layby take some getting used to, but personally I like them. Collapse the Light into Earth is just beautiful.

Anesthise is great but the rest of the album is a little bit of a let down.

Listened to this the other day and it's still pretty sweet. Lyrics are pretty ridiculous and overdramatic though.

I wouldn't say they're ridiculous, they're just exaggerated but they fit the technophobic vibe of the album.

Very exaggerated, but doesn't take much away from the album.
