if I'm trying to be objective, their best albums are probably TSIB and TEOES
I'm just personally partial to Enemy of the Sun, this and A Sun That Never Sets (although that one's a litte inconsistent, for a Neurosis album at least)

I just don't think that the style Neurosis employed on this works with Albini's big, open sound. Or maybe the songs just aren't as good as the ones on TSIB or TEOES.

I think The Last You'll Know and Exist are two of their best overall songs
but I do sort of agree with you, something's weird about the production on this one compared to most of their other releases

agree. I don't care for the production, the songs are great and well-written, the vocals and instrumentation are amazing, I love the bagpipes in The Last You'll Know.

the production is really the only thing holding this one back. I can't put my finger on what it is, but it just doesn't sound as massive and suffocating as Through Silver in Blood or even Given to the Rising. I mean, it's still awesome though.
