I remember checking their stuff when I first got into Soilwork but I really didn't care for it at the time, was not my taste at all

That's understandable, I get that a lot with fans that prefer their newer stuff. They're very different from their newer albums, so it can be a jarring change. That being said, I personally consider them their best material, Chainheart especially being my favorite of theirs.

This album's fine, but the sense of melody on it always kinda bothered me, they definitely got that aspect much better on their more recent albums. this is definitely not better than chainheart or predator
plus this was the gateway album to their 3 most sellout outings which is a crime that can't be overlooked haha

their "sellout albums" tend to be better than this

aw hell naw
figure number five was their softest and least effort album ever
stabbing the drama had some decent moments but stank of radio friendliness anyway
and sworn was just disgraceful radio rock, shit production too

Album Rating: 3.5
sworn is worse than this but the other two are big improvements, ya coping fam

calling any of them radio rock or soft is totally delirious though lol

also thats not a qualitative statement anyway, a softer album is not automatically a worse album, regardless of how many metalheads want to parrot this sentiment.

I'm in the middle of you both
Of course the correct ranking is the chronological one
This > 5 > Stab >>> Sworn

bro, songs like departure plan or nerve are among their most played on streaming services, people new to the band literally think that's what it sounds like

At any rate, I think the panic broadcast is better than all four aforementioned albums
