Review Summary: It is good. Best songs are Got to Choose, Parasite, Watchin' You, and Strange Ways.
This is a solid album that many fans do not give enough credit to.
First off, the production is not as horrible as people say. In fact, the production gives the album a much heavier sound.
Anyways, the song writing is not that great, admittedly. The musicianship is not that good either, not including Frehley's guitar work. Regardless, this is a catchy album.
The first track is Got to Choose. Good song. It is stupid, but catchy. Ace plays a great solo. Overall, a solid opening track.
The second song is Parasite. Probably the heaviest song on the album, it is a long forgotten classic. The guitar riff kicks ass. Once again, not the greatest lyrics. Still, a very strong song.
The third track is Goin' Blind. It is pretty stupid, and a low point for this album.
The fourth song is the title track. To me, it is nothing special. The song is too repetitive, in terms of the chorus. It should really be a one minute long song. It is okay, not a standout.
The fifth track is Let Me Go Rock and Roll. Good guitar work, stupid words, it follows the pattern of the album.
The sixth track is All The Way. Nothing special.
The seventh track is Watchin' You. Great song. Heavy, catchy, and good vocal performances on all means. This is a classic of the band in it's earlier years. I enjoy Peter Criss playing song good fills instead of the same basic drum beat over and over again.
Next is Mainline. Not great, Not horrible.
After that is Coming Home. It's good.
Finally, Strange Ways. Great song.
Overall, I would recommend the album to Kiss fans. It is not amazing, but it is a valiant effort from the band. The band was still discovering their sound, remember that.
