Review Summary: Bring Me The Horizon Suck
There are some bands,
Bands that can simply put out album after album and never seem to get dull or boring because they bring something new to the table,
That kind of band, chooses to dig deep into the emotional and mental realm to trigger a spark of emotion to give to their music,
Sometimes that band doesn’t even have to be amazingly innovative to hold this truth, they just have to be inspired and love what they do to showcase these feelings in their music.
But there are also other bands,
Bands that feed to the unnatural urge to process and package something out of their minds because their customers (in this case their fans), are asking for it.
This kind of band never really digs deep to inspire them, they let alone portray any emotion in their music, cos it’s all so plastic and lifeless it doesn’t really matter if it has any sense of legitimate feeling or not.
Case in point: Bring Me the Horizon
I used to like Bring me the Horizon, honestly, they gave me a good head start into the core music.
And even thought now I’m mature and have realized there are better bands out there,
I still held a sense of fondness for them, like a first girlfriend who broke your heart and you hated, I loved BMTH, then I realized what they were and I despised them, but I still had a soft spot for them.
Even throughout all the changes, hardcore influences and techno layering they did on Suicide Season I still liked them, and I viewed this changes as something positive, something to note that they were moving away from that god awful scene and starting to get more mature and serious about their music
I was
Sooo wrong.
This album is the materialization of all the fears I ever had,
BMTH has given in to the scene and put out one of the most horrendous albums out there in this past year,
Suicide Season Cut Up, is nothing more than the perfect excuse to showcase some ludicrous techno and trance beats, followed by some obnoxious and awkward screaming;
Slam it all together into a semi-new wrapping and you got yourself the next big thing in So-called music.
Take by example ‘Chelsea Smile the Monkey Method Remix’;
A sort of background sound straight out of someone’s Snes, a repetitive loop of the intro riff, and the initial scream of Rawr! might sound ok the first time, but when you base your whole song on it; it becomes such idiocy that you can’t possibly think the person behind this remix is actually serious about it.
With songs like ‘Sleep with One Eye Open Tek-One Remix’, the nonsense is raised up to new heights, it starts out with a piano intro softly placed over a small techno beat and Oliver’s voice singing something in the background, with the music jumping back and forth over and over again the song becomes tiresome and ridiculous, only to be followed by the same piano intro with the small techno sounds and Oliver's voice again intertwined with some small drum fills.
Quite truthfully this isn’t the album most expected to be the follow up to a CD I thought was very decent and showed the band going somewhere with their music, they've truly succumbed to the pressure of the scene to be given some techno screaming nonsense,
Bring me the Horizon utterly leaves me no choice but to say it, they suck, they suck so badly that me a long time fan, and someone who looked forward a lot for they're new CD has given up on them.
Update 24/10/10: After listening to their new album i take back my words and say they can put out a decent album, that is still in no way an excuse for this atoricity.
