DISC 1: IN THE STUDIO:
1. White Room - Probably the most famous song of the album, weired sounding opening, but once everything kicks in, its awesome. Fairly simple guitar work, except the solo which uses heavey wah. Great vocal melody, just overall awesome song. 5/5
2. Sitting On Top Of The World - One of my all time favorite Cream songs, a cover of a Howlin Wolf song. Claptons kazoo-like guitar tone, dreary sounding vocals, and Ginger's usual great drumming. The solo is simple but effective and the main riff playing in the back gives it an awesome sound, then clapton starts palying a blazing blues solo, showing his amazing dynamics, then the vocals come back and jsut send the song over the top, absolutly amazing, then mellows out, and back to the chorus. great blues song. 5/5
3. Passing The Time - Kinda weired, almost pschadelic sounding, then stops, and plays really soft melody with the cello vocals, and some sort of bell, really boring, and kills the flow of the songs, the it kicks back it with a fast chorus, singing the song title, cool drums, and has a cool sound, but then dies out and goes back to the boring stuff, like i said before, this song kills the flow, and sounds like a filer track. 2/5
4. As You Said - all acoustic, with cello and cool vocals. really kinda trippy psycadelic song. Often overlooked, and a great song imo, but lacks the dynamics that the band has when theyre all palying together. 4/5
5. Pressed Rat And Warthog - simple song, with ginger reading a story, nothing that great, not much to say about it. 2/5
6. Politician - kinda a dark bumpity bump style riff, heh. but really cool vocals and lyrics but jack. the real beauty of this song is guitar work is the overlapping lead guitar, truelly amazing sounding solo and innovative, this is the oldest song ive ever heard anyone do that with. Great guitar tone too. Gingers drumming gives it that unique cream sound, with lots of cymbal use. 4.5/5
7. Those Were The Days - upbeat rock song with pyscedlic lyrics and bells. lots of great drumming by ginger, and jacks vocals are cool. after the second verse, eric starts playing a really great solo, but it ends kind of abruptly. 4/5
8. Born Under A Bad Sign - Great cover of Albert King's born under a bad sign. Classic blues riff with lead guitar and vocals palying off eachother, like almost all blues songs. Very similar to sittingon top of the world, great guitar solo, the backing drops out for a couple secounds which keeps it interesting. Overall great song with great vocals by jack, ginger plays pretty much the same beat the whole song, and sounds like theres a tamborine or something in there. 4.5/5
9. Deserted Cities Of The Heart - Very similar to those were the days. Acoustic, electric, and bass guitars all playing at once gives it a cool sound. Ginger does some nice drum work, though not very noticble under all the other stuff thats going on. cello interludes gives it an intersting sound, and a guitar solo differnt from the noraml bluesy clapton solo. overall and very good song, 5/5
DISC 2: LIVE AT THE FILLMORE:
1. Crossroads - An absolute classic, theres so much i could say about, but youd have to hear it to truely hear how amazing it is. Cover of Robert Johnsons crossroad blues. The solos are amazing, the entire band soloing at hte same time, but still sounding musical. 6/5, yes its that good.
2. Spoonful - Cover of a willie dixion song, another blues song by cream. Really great solo by clapton, as usual. But the one thing that stands out most is jack's blistering, amazing vocals. 5/5
3. Traintime - unfortunaltly, im a cheapskate, and i downlaod cds, couldnt find this track, anyone is welcome to leave a reveiw for it in a comment or something.
4. Toad - basically creams moby dick, cool guitar tone, simeple riff, slows down, clapton does a simple solo, fades out into feedback, then the riff plays one last time, the a amazing drum solo by ginger. the riff kicks and the song is over. imo long drum solos are impressive but get slightly annoying...jsut my opinion. 4/5
