Okay so i know a LOT of people hate aiden on this site, but im here to HONESTLY, and WITHOUT prejudice, review their EP/DD Rain in hell. i am a long time aiden fan and im trying my best not to use any prejudice.
1. A Candlelit Intro
Song opens with thunder storm effects and a "melody" that reminds you of something out of a pokemon game. Lyrics begin at 1.20 with WiL asking to "Light this candle." A slow piece with slighly heavy guitar and really slow drums. Not all to interesting for me to be honest.
2. The Suffering
Enters with the classic BURN YOUR FRIENDS chant. Fast, upbeat drums for the first time on the album. WiLs vocals sound alright through the verse but it picks up through the chorus. Lyricwise, they did a pretty good job on this one. I find it a true hardcore dancing/circle pit song. Woah, wait on a slower piece through the middle, WiL singing in very low tones, but hang on the guitar comes back in and the vocals pick up again. "We are the suffering alive" ends the song.
3. We Sleep Forever
Begins with a short guitar riff, bass and drums enter after a few seconds, quite a catchy intro. WiLs vocals enter and i have to admit, his vocals are amazing in this song in particular. The chorus kicks in, slightly upbeat. By far, my favourite song on this album. In comes the bridge, slow guitar riff, now his vocals start again in a very low tone. But its the "We sleep forever" part that captures your attention. God his vocals are good in this piece. "Close your eyes" and now the chorus again, and the piece ends. The best track on the album :D
4. White Wedding cover
Okay, in my opinion, they shouldnt have covered this song, but you have to admit, Nick (Bass) did an excellent job here and wil tried his best to imitate Billy Idol. Im sorry the vocals dont do anything for wil through the verse. In the chorus his vocals get louder and higher. The chorus is good for wil. Angel and Jake W do awesome jobs for the guitar and Jake D does a stand-out job on the drums. As Per usual. A good song, not great, good.
5. Die Die my darling cover
Bass opens the song, wil comes in "Die Die Die my darling" in a very low voice. Now the gang vocals kick in with upbeat drums and a slow guitar riff. The vocals are pretty good in this song 4/5 for the vocal job 5/5 for the bass job and 4.5/5 for drums.....hmmm......4/5 for guitars. They do a decent job of this song, give it a bit of an edge.
6. Silent Eyes
Okay now even i can admit as an aiden fan that the vocals were a tad lame in this particular song. first acoustic. you can tell. the guitar is pretty basic and in the chorus, wil differentiates his vocals from the verse by wailing "you wrote the book on silent eyes" going up several notes very shakily. If there were one song on the album not to listen to, that would be this one, im sorry.
DVD
The dvd was amazing, the performance was stunning. They played a lot of early stuff and it was a great gig. There are a few highlights in the dvd including; stage diving, wil falling over and slipping a lot, bass swings by nick and of course the epic finisher 'world by storm' which captured and wowed the audience, getting them involved by chanting "its in our heads, its in our hearts, the world by storm!"
In this dvd i am also quite suprised to see wil wearing white, its a good change along with the lack of dramatic make up. Sure, that may define him, but im serious when i say he looks good with less. Jake D tends to have put on MORE makeup and the classic red and black combo.
